In collaboration with two Massachusetts Institute of Technology laboratories, Automobili Lamborghini marks the first steps of a potential future Lamborghini electric super sports car. Lamborghini presented the new design concept vehicle, Terzo Millennio, with the design and technology theories of the future. Terzo Millennio combines innovative materials and energy efficiency to create a path in the electric super sports car segment. This concept vehicle aims to address the future of super sports cars in five distinct dimensions, including energy storage systems, propulsion systems, innovative materials, visionary design, and emotion. To achieve that, Lamborghini developed the Terzo Millennio through four pillars, including energy, materials innovation, vehicle architecture and powertrain, and sound & emotion. Please keep reading to learn more about these pillars from our team at Lamborghini Austin in Austin, TX.
Instead of gasoline, electricity is used to power up the Terzo Millennio. Since electrical systems use kinetic energy to generate power, they tend to be highly efficient. To use the electric drivetrains efficiently, the vehicle's battery system must be symmetrical and oriented towards power to ensure a high level of performance. Lamborghini’s aim is to create a super capacitator to achieve the greatest possible level of energy regeneration with existing batteries.
Through the use of composite structural materials for storing electricity, the design objective of the Terzo Millennio is to increase the availability of electrical energy. The goal is to use the vehicle’s components and body as electrical storage devices.
One of the advantages of an electric propulsion system is that it can power electrical components via cables. The intention of Lamborghini is to use this system to generate torque directly at the wheels.
The electric drivetrain of Terzo Millennio demands a new sonic signature to replace the signature of the existing V12 engine. The futuristic design of Terzo Millennio is the best example of new technology, incorporating redesigned powertrain, aerodynamics, and architecture.
The Terzo Millennio is one of the “One-Off and Show Cars” by Lamborghini. It is still not available on the market; however, you can still get your hands on other efficient Lamborghini models. To do so, get in touch with us at Lamborghini Austin in Austin, TX, today!
