An Early Introduction to Supercars from His Father, to an Urus Driver Today
Bonham was approached by Lamborghini to create a trilogy of playlists, called The Engine Songs, which are available on Spotify. The playlists were created by matching the music to the frequencies of Lamborghini’s V12, V10, and V8 engines. For the Urus Super SUV, Bonham was particularly inspired by the sound of the eight-cylinder engine and its rhythmic beat.
Alex Trecarichi, music producer and creator of The Engine Songs, explained how he went about creating the playlist for the Urus Performante. He began by analyzing the basic frequency of the engine. Consequently, this resulted in a parameter of 50 hertz, corresponding to the vibrations of the drums. He knew that an important part of the playlist had to be the rhythm.
Bonham’s love for Lamborghini goes back to his childhood, where he recalls his father driving a Countach. Naturally, he was in love with the rumble of the engine. His father, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, liked to say, “I want my sound to be like the sound of thunder.”
This became a source of inspiration for both father and son.
The Urus Performante has become a benchmark in its segment. It recently set a record set for production SUVs on the Pikes Peak high-altitude track in Colorado. It achieved a time of 10:32:064, a full 17 seconds faster than the previous record holder.
